No 57: The Roman Bit Box

  1. I wish I could get my hands on some Companion Miniatures stuff. Seems very good from what I've seen.

  2. I find their cloaked legionaries very good. Some of their Centurions can suffer from over sized plumes though. They are basicly Mark Copplestone's sculpts that have been tweaked slightly. I find them still quiet expensive with that in mind.

  3. Their command figures look great, definitely adds some variation to the Foundry figures which every Roman has somewhere! It's a shame Companion aren't operating anymore and so I can't get my hands on any.

Can't wait to see any progress on you Alexandrian army. Very exciting!

  4. Have Companion shut down...Oh no. That is news indeed, I'm some what slow at finding out Industry news.

  5. I have picked up most of my stuff from Salute over the years. You can normally find a backwater stall who is still selling Companion stuff.

  6. They've been closed ever since I took up wargaming thanks to your blog this time last year. I noticed BRB had some and wanted to get my hands on some of their command figures.

The current news is they closed 1 and a half years ago but have just been bought by another company and are in the process of transferring the range so should be open again in the not too near future.

I'm hopefully attending Salute this year but it depends on Uni stuff. Definitely be at Partizan though so may be able to find something there.

  7. I may see you at Salute then, I'll be dropping in on BRB's Zama game for sure so I may see you there. I will take off my Tommy helmet so you can recognize me.

  8. Hi Consul, no the Companion sale story was a rumour. I presume life has got in the way of art, and that the owner will resurrect the range at some stage. I gather he's not planning to sell.

Hi Secundus, your mountain = my foothills. ;-) I don't suppose you have any Companion Spanish? I'd swap for GB etc.

  9. Just checked my dates and I am able to come but looks like I'll have to travel straight from Uni. I thought it'd be nice to show my support for BRB considering all the help he's given me over the last few months!

    Shame about the Companion rumour...

P.S. my student loan will have just come in around the time of Salute ;)
