jmilesr - the English aren't like that abroad when going to watch Football matches anymore. The working class fans can't afford to travel abroad or buy tickets so it's only accountants and bankers who can afford to go. A bit sad, but unfortunately that's the way it's going, even at home!
Upwards of £40 ($60) a game and more in some cases - it's pricing real fans out of the game. Long gone are the days when you spent your weekly pocket money (50p/70 cents) on going to the game.
I still have lods of french to finish off including Artillery, so no Brits quite yet. Nice to draw some up though every now and then. You can't beat a nice red coat.
Besides the obvious soccer match (sorry only Americans play real football - LOL) which siege would this be Badajoz or Cuidad Rodrigo? Only thing mising is the resulting debauchery, But heck your cartoons are really cool, again I take it you draw them yourself, do you do commissioned work?
Excellent! From an earlier war on the Continent "This knight...brought with him...men who had been hardened in certain wars which had raged in their country. They were huge feeders, and deep carousers...often unruly and noisey in their wassail. Though from a remote and somewhat barbarous island, they yet believed themselves to be the most perfect of men on earth."
It amazes me how we were ever sober enough to carve out an Empire...what did we do, wake up with a thumping headache to find we owned half of Africa (and had it tattooed on our backsides of course)?
Dear Consul, Apparently you have not ever played American football (I would imagine it bears a closer resemblence to actual warfare given the weight of the uniforms and the helmuts), rather than soccer which is a bunch of head butting, but rather than throwing spears we throw little pigskins or run down the field with them, one Houston Oiler running back comes to mind but I can't remember his name. Don't have a favorite American football team, but my baseball team would have to be the Mets and the Cardinals. Gotta love tha Mets, even when they have good teams they still lose, thats a true sport. IMHO :-)
I think I went to that soccer (oops, footbal) game...
ReplyDeleteWith soldiers like those I could conquer the world.
ReplyDeleteI don't know about the enemy but by God, they scare me!
