Here they are after their dips, I have to say that at this stage all figures look scary. The first is dipped in Army painter dark tone (black) and the second in the medium tone (brown to you and me), I used to be put off at first during this glossy stage but stay with it, the matt varnish is the key. Waiting the 24 hours can be a drag but it has to be done. In the past I had felt the model every hour to see if it's dry, then carried on to varnish it before ready. This just causes cracking on the models surface.
I put the drying models out of the way now in the shed, out of sight out of mind...it works.
Did you 'dip' or brush? I'm now a total brushing convert.
ReplyDeleteWill you be highlighting now or just varnishing?
At the minute, I can't tell the difference between the two figures!
Oh yes i alway brush it on, it allows more control and you can spread it about better.
ReplyDeleteHi Secundus, I'm about to dip my toe in the... dip so as to speak.
ReplyDeleteI'll be painting dip onto ancient Spanish, many in white tunics. Will I regret using strong tone?
