I couldn't visit the British Museum without coming away with a few pictures of the Crocodile skin armour. I remember when I first saw this suit, It really blew me away. This suit is from the Third Century and is believed to be a set of parade armour for special occasions.
That is really lovely, have never seen anything roman like that before, I wonder how much it weighed?
ReplyDeleteI've never seen that in the flesh (no pun intended!). Which gallery is that in, please?
ReplyDeleteBRB Simon
I've got a photo of this from the British Museum.
ReplyDeleteI think it was with all the other Roman stuff, I remember other Roman armour and statues.

That is just plain 'different'. I can honestly say I've never seen that mentioned in any roman armour book
ReplyDeleteThat's very interesting and something very unusual in regards to Romans. Nice little find.

It's just in the Roman section of the British Museum, very easy to find. It kind of leaps out at you when you enter the room (no pun intended there either).
ReplyDeleteSupte, when I next get a free lunch break....

ReplyDeleteWhew! Guess the one who wore this is so exhausted after the parade. Too heavy and quite so antique and not so good to the environment.:)
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing,
