Armoured Fomori

I was really looking forward to getting some paint on these chaps with their fancy gear. The smaller Lizard man bodies turned out good as they provide a nice midsized Fomori.

This grim looking warrior has the look of a veteran to me, maybe even a champion. They are called Storm warriors on the Alternative Armies website.

The Ral Partha Toad man shows off his new cloak and settles into the ranks.
I did have some Foundry Greek shields and these are great for the Fomori. They look ancient, but also echo a high born past fallen into ruin. The Fomorians were once beautiful and elegant, before being cursed and disfigured. They still have a love for beautiful things. It’s a nice touch to have these beautiful shields corroded and ruined by the sea, a true mirror  of the Fomorians themselves.

A smaller Fomorian warrior charges in with his bronze sword.

I thought a nice unit would be a group of nasty deep sea creatures. Allied with the cold Fomori with the promise of fresh red meat.

The extra seaside touches really do make a difference I think, you can almost smell them. I must see if I can do a tiny starfish on one.
I keep trying different techniques to create the seaweed look. This one is quite successful, I painted it a yellowish colour to break up the army of greens going on.
These Lizardmen from Wargames Atlantic do make great Fomori. There are always extra Snakemen arms and weapons left on the sprue and these can be used to equip these smaller fighters.

This warrior has a stolen shield from a previous battle with the Tuatha De Danann.
This warrior I wanted to make a little different so I gave him hard coral armour. I finally got to paint a jade type weapon. This should be enhanced by a gloss varnish when the time comes.

  3. Wonderful work! Great choice in colours and I like the verdegris shields. Apparently Warlord Games will be releasing miniatures for Slaine in 2022; it will be interesting to see their take on Formorians.
