Mirkwood Companies

Here is the First spear company of Lindir.

They turned out looking a little more ad-hoc than the 2nd company with bare heads and more leaf shields. Maybe their personalised equipment marks them out as seasoned veterans.
For some reason better known to themselves, a lot of of them have ditched their armour. They fight in light tunics, maybe they value speed and manoeuvrability over protection?
Here is Lindir himself leading a charge, probably the same one that ambushed the goblins at the bottom of Ravenhill.
As he leads the first company, the green standard of the 'wing' is carried to mark it out on the field. I had to give it some thought as to what to call an Elven formation, 'wing' seemed to have the right Elven feel to it.
My idea for these smaller Elven companies is in Mirkwood, you can't have big heavy formations thundering forward. The thick, tangled forest prohibits any sort of massed ranks. So these nimble warriors have organised themselves into small, agile units. Much better suited for lightning attacks that can disappear quickly, leaving the enemy bewildered and confused.
In Oathmark, because Elves have better stats than most, I will field them in units of two ranks. Their staying power will be balanced with they're ability to out manoeuvre enemies. Holding larger units in place while other companies hit them in the flank or rear.

They are quite a mix of reds, browns and greens...I hope they tie together visually as an army.

I'm planning to use the same brown for most of the big cloaks so that might help.

I'm pleased with the leaf shield in the front, it is green stuff spread out flat and scored with a blade.

Here you can see the pedants marking out the different companies by their coloured tails.
The gloom of Mirkwood.

You could build some spider swarms and have them fight Dol Guldur too!
