First Wargame, well, kind of.

The little chap enjoyed his game with my old Britain’s figures, so I thought I would get him his own.  A big bucket of soldiers from Amazon was just the ticket!
I chose the Americans and He chose everything else, including all my heavy weapons. He loved them!

  1. Great looking game straight from the Pacific. Those Americans look like Matchbox figures...good find.

  2. Great fun, I did the same in the soil in the back garden over fifty years ago. I am sure some figures are still in the trenches that collapsed and never went back inside with me awaiting the archaeologists of the future. Ritual, they will say.

  4. My kids and I used to play with two sets - one green one tan. We would set them up about 2m apart and then take turns to roll half a dozen marbles back and forth, knocking own soldiers like skittles to win the game!

Thats the nearest either of them got to wargaming although my son came to a show once when he was about 12 and commanded some ACW union troops in a demo game, my daughter is just shy of 21 now and my son 18 and a half - not interested in soldiers or history at all :(

  5. 'Assault on a Pacific Atoll' - brilliant terrain modelling, though I think that having the base colour on the figures, you could have gone the extra mile and painted their faces ;) I've seen worse at a club game (at a club years ago that must remain anonymous).

  6. I was actually thinking these guys are rather cheap, I could paint these up with a super quick paint job. Give them really near future camouflage schemes in red and blue and have two platoon sized units.make up some easy large scale ‘garden’ rules for a bit of outdoor gaming. However, that’s just the inner gamer in me trying to over think things. Maybe when he’s much older we could do it, at the moment he is far to young to muster the patience for any sort of rules. Food for thought though.
