Club Games Day

The reenactment world is like a big family and you never really lose touch with it, even when you can't attend anymore. Reenactment and war gaming go hand in hand with eachother and you'll never fill a room with more history buffs if you tried.

Prince Rupert's gaming club got together yesterday for a long overdue catch up and bash around. Having so many seasoned gamers in one room resulted in a treasure trove of excellent games. Here are some highlights of the day.

I have to mention the exceptional modeller Richard Brown. He takes standard MDF kits and turns them into items of pure charm and joy. Just as you think you have seen all the heart warming lot of his work, the bloody roof comes off and you see the interior.

He laughs and says he goes too far, but there's real enjoyment in what he does and it's plain to see.

His favourite touch in all of his amazing village is the tiny fallen Tomato on the floor. The fall has even made it burst...
Hand made milliput cakes and bread finish off the bakery. My favourite detail is a tiny observation very easily overlooked, the flour on the table and floor.

The venue itself is a beautiful village hall and I always marvel at the amount of work that has gone into decorating it. The hall is on the site of a ECW battle and the walls are covered in murals of the engagement and other historical events connected to the village.

This post is turning into a Richard Brown fan page but the level of detail he puts into his models and bases needs to be seen and enjoyed. The green house is another piece of joy, I joked and said he should get into train sets.
This mortar crew for the Very British Civil War Socialist Party is another work of lovely details. A tiny tea set has been made from milliput, complete with tea cosy and milk jug.
Lovely stuff!
These are all 1930's buildings geared around playing the VBCW and WWII games.
"What do you mean the roof comes off...oh!"
