Woodelf WIP

I have one more base of Silvan elves to do to finish the amount needed for the next Midgard away day. These spearmen are among the first I attempted quite a while ago now. It was quite nice to get them out of the box where they have sat for years.

I had forgotten I put so much love into them with their pouches and leaf decorations. These will be a joy to paint up knowing they will finally get finished.

I do have more, but they are mostly swords and bow armed, the Battle of the five armies needs spearmen. So the last of the spear armed elves were selected.

Like before, most of the bodies of these warriors are from Conquest Normans. Fire forge medieval warriors make up the rest. The latter has a nice scale mail corset which looks great for elven leaf mail, see above.

These Norman shields are attached to the arm, but with a leaf added they can pass as elven.

GW feathers are quite large but do add a little flair to this noble warrior.
 

You can see here by the colour of the greenstuff that the sculpting was done on different days. I have to stop myself from rushing when sculpting and remember it can't all be done on the same day. Do the main piece, then when this is dry add the small belt details and extras.

The next base forms up.

A very early cloak here, this is when I was trying it all out. I have learnt a lot on the way. It'll be nice to finish these as I have come to realise, I have a soft spot for them.

The odd GW sword made it into the ranks too.

I'll have to see to those mould lines before I undercoat them.

Leaf pouches are my favourite things to make. I started doing them to give these figures a woodland feel. All of the heads are from the elven Oathmark plastic kits. These stabbing spear arms are from the Gripping beast viking plastic set.
