My friend was really put out that it had lots of armour but an open cockpit. Knowing this would annoy him forever, I had a look through my bit box.
Lucky I found a shoulder piece off of a Playmobil knight, this fitted perfectly as a cockpit cover. It even has rivets on the back. I built up the cockpit a little more with plasticard and also filled a gap on the cover.
Now the Prussian helmet can still be seen but the cockpit looks heavily armoured. The pilot has lifted up the cover to see better as he chases down fleeing soldiers.
A terrifying site on any battlefield. Now I need to think of a good name for it.
Update: The model has been undercoated with Tamiya Red brown. I will try a new technique with this guy, chipping. I will sponge on chipping solution over the brown. Hopefully this will come off once the model is painted, leaving a nice weathered effect.
