I think I went to that soccer (oops, footbal) game...
With soldiers like those I could conquer the world.
I don't know about the enemy but by God, they scare me!
jmilesr - the English aren't like that abroad when going to watch Football matches anymore. The working class fans can't afford to travel abroad or buy tickets so it's only accountants and bankers who can afford to go. A bit sad, but unfortunately that's the way it's going, even at home!Upwards of £40 ($60) a game and more in some cases - it's pricing real fans out of the game. Long gone are the days when you spent your weekly pocket money (50p/70 cents) on going to the game.Football-related rant over!Great picture by the way!Consul.
Brilliant!Really got it exactly right there. Does this mean you are going to start painting Brits?I have started work on Sharke's rifles for Flintloque!Jolly good show old chap!Rob
I still have lods of french to finish off including Artillery, so no Brits quite yet. Nice to draw some up though every now and then. You can't beat a nice red coat.
I think the bankers are a rather worse lot than the houligans!
I love the picture! Reminds me of a group of students I took on a study abroad program once! ;)
Oh yes,one has to like this cartoon!Nice work and very funny!:-)CheersChristopher
Besides the obvious soccer match (sorry only Americans play real football - LOL) which siege would this be Badajoz or Cuidad Rodrigo?Only thing mising is the resulting debauchery, But heck your cartoons are really cool, again I take it you draw them yourself, do you do commissioned work?
ps thanks letting me use your cartoon its soooo Napoleonic
Excellent! From an earlier war on the Continent "This knight...brought with him...men who had been hardened in certain wars which had raged in their country. They were huge feeders, and deep carousers...often unruly and noisey in their wassail. Though from a remote and somewhat barbarous island, they yet believed themselves to be the most perfect of men on earth."
xcellent quote Dean!VFW - American Football is just made up of joggers who can catch, no skill required ;)
Very good! Somewhere in Spain, I suppose...I'm still enjoying your Roman battle.
It amazes me how we were ever sober enough to carve out an Empire...what did we do, wake up with a thumping headache to find we owned half of Africa (and had it tattooed on our backsides of course)?Excellent as always!Matt
Dear Consul,Apparently you have not ever played American football (I would imagine it bears a closer resemblence to actual warfare given the weight of the uniformsand the helmuts), rather than soccer which is a bunch of head butting, but rather than throwing spears we throw little pigskins or run down the field with them, one Houston Oiler running back comes to mind but I can't remember his name. Don't have a favorite American football team, but my baseball team would have to be the Mets and the Cardinals. Gotta love tha Mets, even when they have good teams they still lose, thats a true sport. IMHO :-)
Oh gods, they remind me of my ex husband! LOL
lol thats awsome
The Barmy Army (c19th). Great work.
Just your average package tour to Ibiza, eh?
LOVE YOUR ILLUSTRATIONS.After seeing Chelsea fans in Milan I can truly say that they ARE still like that. I love the game but the fans are even more entertaining
