Druid Badofix joins the Nobles in their fight

The scary Druid known as Badofix comes down from his hiding place and gives voice to the struggle with Rome. Having seen most of his order put to the sword, Badofix is in no mind for mercy and sets his band of dispels to the task of gathering Roman heads.
As I known Badofix very well, I thought it only right that I spend a bit of time creating him a nice figure base to go with his namesake. The Horned god standard was made from a Blacktree Design German and a lump of 'Green Stuff'. It looks quite dark and foreboding which I thought suited the base of Badofix very well. Prepared for battle, all of Badofix's followers have donned their war woad to carry death to the enemy.

I like the couldron figure on Badofix's robes.

I'm getting ready to paint my 1/72 druids (from Hat Industrie's Gallic Command set). I remember reading somewhere that said the British druids wore grey robes. Was that Tacitus? I should look that up. I was thinking of doing a plaid of different shades of grey.

I started reading The Druids by Peter Ellis. Maybe he discusses their costume.

My idea of Druids has always been white bearded men in grey robes also, I think it is the classic image everybody thinks of.

I have to admit it took a lot to make me go against the grain on this one. However, I wanted Badofix to be a dark, brooding figure and so gave him a black robe with the image of Cernunnos 'The horned one' on the front it. There's also some nice dark Druid atcion in one of the Simon Scarrow books.

I've been meaning to get back to the Scarrow books. I read the first one when it was first published, but then stopped. I'm reading the 4th book of Cornwell's Saxon series, so I'll have to move to Scarrow after that.

Yeah I stopped after about three of them. I like to get back to factual books really, the Scarrow books were good for a while, but I started to miss my facts and figures.

I agree Scarrow has a great general Roman ambience but not much for the purist readership.
