Gildor's Second Company

Another company of Mirkwood Elves marches out of the gloom. This time it is one of Gildors.

The are dressed in a variety of garments and armour styles. These more veteran companies have more of a 'well travelled' look to them.

I like the fact that each base has a grey clad warrior in it, so even from a distance you'll be able to tell where Gildor's troops are on the field.

You can see the difference between Lindir's company and that of Gildor's here. Lindir's men are all clad in Autumn browns and greens, where as Gildor's have a more varied palette.

A mix of GW Elven helmets help with the ad-hoc look of Gildor's men. Most of these Elves are made from Oathmark Elf heads and Conquest Norman torsos and weapons. Cloaks and pouches etc are sculpted from green stuff.

Silvan Elves WIP

Back on the old Elven trail after flirting with a few different eras as you do. I found it a little tricky to get my head into and remember how I'd done things in the past. My trusty note book helped, but I hadn't written down everything.

Gildors companies are a little more ad-hoc, so I used more of a variety of helmets and cloak colours than Lindir's. A lot of these new helmets are from GW Elves.

I still used a lot of Reaper's Harvest brown paint to tie them together. This Autumnal brown colour will hopefully tie the whole army together.

A nice character figure from Alternative Armies.

Trying out a 3D printed shield from eBay. Also, playing with the idea of grey cloaks for some of Gildor's men.

UPDATE: I chose a simple leaf design for Gildor's companies. Choosing a leader, well it had to be the swan helmeted guy with the axe. He looks like captain material to me.
This first batch will make up the second company as shown by the two red tails on their standard.

Another Great Wargames Day

Today I was invited to another Prince Rupert's gaming day. It's always nice to see and play other games I have only ever seen on the shelves of shops. One such game was a battle using the Cruel Seas rules and miniatures.
Another game was this excellent WWII desert set up using the One hour skirmish rules. It was really rewarding to actually see my desert building being used. They aren't quite finished but really helped set the scene. A few extra bits from Two Sheds Fred helped put the cherry on top.

A German 88 puts down fire on the advancing British.

Cruel Seas.

The objective ship was finally destroyed and the Germans take the day. Boom!
