Damage markers

I bought some damage markers used in Bolt action, getting ready for the Clone wars. I thought there's going to be a lot of things going up in flames, so Id better prepare.
When the packets arrived there were three colours in the felt. Orange, grey and black.

The thing to remember when creating these bases is the the orange goes at the bottom, then the grey, then black. I looked at it as if I was painting a burning torch with black used right at the end of the flame. When putting these bases together, the same principle worked really well.

Once all the bases were done, I took them outside and gave them a coat of lacquer to set them. I was going to use hair spray but then remembered I had the clear lacquer. I think the lacquer will fix it better.
In the little damage markers packs you get three 25mm bases with the three felt colours. I cut or pulled these colours into three equal portions. These can be twiddled together and mixed to create a good looking fire. Once the orange and grey are mixed, the black can be mixed in at the end to create the thick smoke.
The 501st come under heavy fire.
This shows the realistic effect of the black smoke being at the top.
A pack just opened. I didn't realise there were three little bases inside and ordered 5 packs. Can you have too many explosions...no!
The fibres mix together quite easily in the fingers.
Rather than cutting as I started off doing, I switched to pulling the fibres apart to make longer sections.
I'm pleased with these and they should be useful in basically every era I play. This could be used for Cybertronian missile strikes to the American civil war artillery hits. Well worth a couple of quid from eBay.
